Many of us struggle with frizzy hair, maybe it is the weather or maybe our hair has a Diana Ross complex? There are a few reasons for those frizzy flyaway strands of hair. In this article we are going to learn what causes frizzy hair and how to prevent it.
If you are ready to say adios to your frizzy hair and hello to a good hair day everyday, then read on.
What causes frizzy hair?
Our hair is just as complex as we are. It is made up of three layers and is held together with thousands of cells. The main reason our wavy locks get frizzy is due to the outer layer on our hair. When looked at through a microscope, it looks like a shingled roof. When our hair is smooth, the shingles lie flat but when exposed to movement such as running a brush through dry hair, those cuticles or shingles lift. This is caused from the static electricity in the air, which leads to frizz. But recently there has been a new innovative invention called Sleep Styler. The rollers are made from marshmallow-like memory foam. The rollers are so soft that they mold with your pillow, allowing you to sleep peacefully.
Another reason for frizzy hair is due to the fact that our hair is drier; it is looking for extra moisture found in the air. The more humid the climate, the more moisture your hair will absorb, which means those shingles lift again or in other words, the frizzier it gets.
How to prevent poufy, frizzy hair
Choose a high quality conditioner. Avoid conditioners that contain alcohol as one of their main ingredients, but instead look for one that has protein-infused with glycerin. This will help manage frizz and create shine. You can also add a tab of conditioner to your roots before styling.
One of the biggest mistakes we make, is thinking we need to wash our hair every single day. Every third day, just wash your hair by using your conditioner. By doing this you are keeping at optimum PH health, which helps to replenish moisture and ensures that the natural oils on your hair are not stripped from over washing.
Don’t brush your hair when it’s dry. Brushing dry hair causes static electricity, stretches the hair strands, which leads to split ends. Instead, once your hair is towel dried, brush or comb your hair as needed, add a touch of leave-in conditioner or another anti-frizz product and do not pick up that brush or comb until your hair is wet again.
Don’t over process your hair. Flat iron, curlers, hair dryers and chemical relaxers and straighteners cause your hair to become brittle and weak. Plus, they absorb all of the moisture in your hair, causing the frizziest hair imaginable.
How to style your hair correctly
As we learned, the more we style our hair, the frizzier our hair will become, but then, how can we style our hair?
The best option is using leave-in rollers that are applied to our wet hair before going to bed. In the morning, all you have to do is remove the rollers and fluff your hair into the position your want, leaving your hair perfectly styled.
But sadly, most leave-in rollers are extremely uncomfortable to sleep on, making this option not so ideal, as it affects our sleep quality.
When you wake up in the morning, just remove and enjoy your frizz-free hairstyle throughout the day.
These simple solutions will tame your crazy, uncontrollable mane and frizzy hair.
